Cyber Monday

I guess I am not really too much of an on-line shopper.  I prefer to actually touch the items I am buying before hand, just to make sure all is sound.  This coming Cyber Monday is suppose to break the record (even though the record get broken every year). Today I can actually justify doing my Christmas shopping this year by way of my computer, sitting in the comfort of my own home and not dealing with the crazy people who think they should be the only ones getting a bargain. Yes I can say this because I went out for the first time on Black Friday this year.  First AND Last time.  No wonder the sales are huge.

Voice Stick

article_image_109

My grandmother loved to read, and this would have been a wonderful device for her, since her eyesight had gone bad and made it difficult for her to read.   This device will be a great for people who are blind or visually impaired.  They will not only be able to read books and magazines, but also menus, children books, small signage and possibly a lot more than they could before.

High Tech Ordering

Y_H_Bolt-1

Going to a restaurant and waiting for service or the check has not always given me the "greatest patience" award. I like the idea of a tablet as the menu and being able to order or pay when you want or when you are ready.  This device will probably help people who are in more of a hurry, but might be problematic for people who like to customize the menu to their liking. Hopefully using these would not take away from the guest receiving great service or the server getting a great gratuity.

Body Art?

Google electronic skin tattoo

Google has developed a new communications device you wear on your body.  The image from the website shows that you should place it on your throat while transmitting the conversation to your mobile device, supposedly without a lot of outside interference.  I know I think people look crazy when they appear as if they are talking to themselves, but are really on their phones.  At least I can eventually see their ear piece. This might be great for security personal or drivers who have to talk and do not have blue-tooth in their vehicles.

3-D Image Glasses

Watch this video

For anyone who has seen "Iron Man", you know the scenes in the movie when Tony Stark manipulates objects in 3-D from thin air.  These glasses would allow the user to interact with virtual objects, or holograms, by physically touching them.  This could become the next generation of computing using a pair of glasses and your hands.  It would be an enormous help to those who often use their hands to design.  By moving the objects in front of them directly to their specifications, we would be without the hassle of waiting (we want instant gratification).  It will also be great for gamers to use both hands for specific competitions.
